Oh yes ! She can too !

I have spent a lot of time thinking, analyzing, talking to people and reading about the need to treat women differently in IT industry. Agree that we don't dominate in terms of numbers but apart from that what are the factors which command for a different treatment for us in IT industry. What are the challenges we face and how do we battle them ? First of all we need to understand that in our case it's not the technology which opens up gate for discrimination. From technology's standpoint both men and women are equal and all of us in IT industry need to accept that if "HE" can do then "SHE" can do it as well. Why this fact becomes difficult to accept is because of lack of role models and examples. We as humans live and lead by examples. As women it is important to realize your worth and have trust in your abilities to reach out and aim for not just the top most positions but also focus on how to get closer to them by chalking out a well crafted career path and not following the conventional path by many other women. From men, what is required is the necessary support in the form of an encouraging boss, supportive spouse, motivating father and a trustworthy friend. There might be no examples and no set path but take the risk, explore the opportunities, and give women a chance to reach till top. They can do it!. I know you can't flick a switch or have this initiative and make change overnight. It takes a lot of time, it takes complete dedication from the top team—that they really want to improve the diversity of an organization. And it takes a lot of identification of the people that have talent, making sure that they have the right opportunities, giving them the right opportunities. Not in a discriminatory way, but just making sure that equality is happening throughout the workplace. And relentlessly and fairly ruthlessly making sure that there is equality at all the decision making points in an organization's life. Let's make it happen and crack the she code :)

Can I ? to I Can !

Can I win ?

Can I do it ?

Can I take this big step ?

Almost everyone of us encounter
"Can I ?"
at some point of life, especially women and we need to overcome this self-doubt. This blog expresses my small desire to aspire and inspire " I Can". It is inspired by my participation in Grace Hopper Conference(one of the largest technology conferences for women in India) which pulled together all my passions: love for technology, opportunity to network, and desire to address that “?”. I learnt to build relationships and break down boundaries, pay it forward, and reciprocate when someone reaches out to you. As Mahatma Gandhi said, “Be the change you want to see in the world. I am writing to share my experiences which can help trigger a change, however small. I will continue to share my stories, challenges and take on technology as a woman for women.
